Charleston Expo 2025 Recap: Community, Culture & Closet Confidence

CHS Natural Hair Expo

About two weeks ago, I got the chance to attend the Charleston Expo 2025 my second year showing up as one of the influencers for this event, and honestly, it was just as powerful as the first.

Even with everything going on around DEI rollbacks, Ebbie and her team didn’t miss a beat. They stayed committed, pushed through, and pulled off another amazing year. That kind of resilience matters  and in times like these, these kinds of events matter too.

Why Events Like This Still Matter

We need spaces like this in our communities where Black-owned businesses, creators, and vendors can be seen, supported, and celebrated.

Not just for exposure, but for the sake of connection. For the representation. For the culture.

It’s more than just a fun day out  it’s about pouring back into the people and places that pour into us.

Some of My Favorite Moments

From the vendors and food trucks to the hair care chat with Design Essentials, the Burke High School Band, and a whole fashion show  there was so much happening, and all of it felt intentional.

It was such a joy seeing familiar faces I haven’t crossed paths with in a while, and I always love hanging with my influencer friends in real life. Good people, good vibes, and so many moments that reminded me why I love this work.

Let Me Tell You About This Outfit

Now listen  I had my outfit planned for weeks. I was ready. And just as I’m getting dressed… wardrobe malfunction. Like, why does it always happen when you’re already running late?

But instead of spiraling, I did what I usually do: shop my own closet.

I’ve got this Pinterest board of outfits inspired by characters in books (yes, really), and I decided to pull from there. Ended up with a look that felt cute, comfy, and totally me.

Sometimes the best outfits come from last-minute creativity, right?

The Charleston Expo 2026 reminded me  again  of how important it is to keep showing up. For ourselves, our communities, and our culture.

If you’re ever wondering if events like this still matter in today’s climate:

They do.

If you’re ever unsure whether to rewear something or get creative with what you already have:

You can.

And if you’re ever in doubt about your place in a room:

You belong.

Grateful to be a part of this and already looking forward to next year. 🖤
